Kosovo Economic Ode Chairman ( OEK) Safet Gerjaliu in an interview for Telegrafi has said that they support the Government's budget for 2018 to be over 2 billion euros. According to him, the challenges will be great because politics is taking over economic agendas as well.

“E has supported the transition of the budget to the Assembly. A new energy is being seen in the Kosovo Assembly. It is a time when more needs to be done for the economy, we must have rule of the rule of order and law. The private sector made more steps forward than politics. Such a budget of over 2 billion euros with the work and engagement of the private sector could be realised”, he said.

According to him, salary increases for the public sector harm the private sector.

In Kosovo alone, the public sector happens to have higher salaries than the private sector. Everyone's focused on public administration because they get paid, and they don't do anything. In a country where the private sector generates new jobs, there is a future. Pay increases for the public sector should also be engaged psychologically because everyone will be aiming to work in the public sector”, he said.

Otherwise, the Kosovo government has planned salary growth from January 2018 to the level of economic growth.
