Erdogan, Putin and Rouhan meet to split up neighbour over Syria

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed a key meeting in Soci's Russian resort with his Russian and Iranian counterparts on Syria's fate on 22 November, describing it as a meeting aimed at ending the long-standing tragedy in the war-torn country. “We have agreed to a process [...]
“We have agreed to an inclusive, free, fair and transparent political process under the leadership of the Syrian people,” said Erdogan at the end of the summit.
The attitude of the Syrian regime and the opposition will play a key role in the future of the political process, Erdogan said, adding that Turkey would not accept the existence of “terrorist groups in Syria” referring to the Kurdish People's Protection Unit (YPG).
“No one should expect us to be under the same roof as terrorist organisations targeting our national security”, Erdogan said.
He also said the ceasefire steps had been reviewed, reports “Hurriyet Daily News”, the Periscopi broadcast.
Syria's leadership is committed to the peace process, constitutional reform and free elections, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the trilateral meeting.
The three presidents agreed to mount efforts to complete the <x0-terrorist groups” in Syria, he said.
Syria's leadership is committed to the peace process, constitutional reform and free elections, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the trilateral meeting.
The three presidents agreed to step up efforts to complete the <x0-terrorist groups” in Syria, he also said.
This trilate meeting is extremely important about the total outcome of the bloodshed in Syria and the tragedy that has been going on for many years. The world has witnessed the positive results of Turkey, Russia and Iran by creating a close working environment for the Syrian issue, and the Astana process is the best example of this --” said Erdogan at a press conference ahead of the trilateral meeting with Putin and Iranian President Hasan Rouhan.
He said the Astana Process, agreed earlier by the three countries, had led to positive developments in this area, describing progress as key but not enough “and asking all sides “to contribute to reaching a permanent political solution in Syria.
It is essential that all sides make a contribution to create a permanent and visible political solution that the Syrian people can accept”, Erdogan said.
He also stated that Soci's meeting was very “oriented towards results”, following previous preparations by the foreign ministers and chiefs of staff of the three countries.
His remarks were reiterated by the Russian president, who called for “concessions and compromise” from all parties in the six-year conflict in Syria.
It is clear that the reform process will not be simple, it will seek compromise and concessions from all parties, including the Syrian government”, Putin said.
“I rely on the fact that Russia, Iran and Turkey will make the best efforts to do this job as productive as possible,” he added.
“We can say with certainty that we have arrived at a new phase, opening the possibility of launching a real political process towards a” peace agreement, the Russian president said.
Putin added that there was a true <x0-ishans” to end Syria's war, which observers say has killed more than 330,000 people, after saying Russia, Turkey and Iran had managed to prevent the fall of a war-torn country.
Meanwhile, Iran's Rouhan said the strategy of the three countries was “based on partnership rather than competition, in friendship and not in hostility”./Periscopi/
