It is believed that 2,000 pieces of bones belonged to Sidarti Gotham, whose teachings became the basis for Buddhist religion.
The remains were found in the Chinese province of Jinchuan, in a ceramic vessel in which they reportedly belong to Buddha, who allegedly died 2,500 years ago.
Besides the bones, archaeologists have found 260 Buddhist statues.
The Buddha, a traveling philosopher and teacher who was born in Nepal, is said to have abandoned his royal heritage to pursue the course of spiritism.
The Holy Scriptures say that he has traveled to eastern parts of India between the 6th and 4th centuries BC.
After Buddha, according to legend, died 2,500 years ago at the age of 81, his disciples reportedly shared his mortore remains and carried them to several locations throughout the country, Kosovo keeps broadcasting.
Buddha's remains were originally to belong to the Shaky clan, which the Buddha himself belonged to. However, the then king and six remaining clans sought their own relics.
To avoid arguing, the religious leader divided the remains into 10 pieces, which were sent to the sanctuary where the remains of Buddha's companions were preserved.
