Russia has vetoed these efforts at the UN Security Council.
The UN Joint Investigative Mechanism Authority and the Organisation for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons will be completed in mid-November.
Last week, the UN investigative team has concluded that the Syrian government has been responsible for a sarin gas attack in the town of Khan Sheikh in April. Tens of people have lost their lives in this attack.
Russia's “attempts to undermine and eliminate the Joint Investigative Mechanism show a dire disregard for human suffering and loss as a result of the use of chemical weapons, and a complete lack of respect for international norms”, the White House said through a statement.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government, which enjoys Russia's support, has repeatedly denied the use of chemical weapons.
For the attack on Khan Sheikh, she has blamed the Syrian rebels.
