All talk of the KLA's public appearance on November 28th 1997 in Sspelewright; a major event that has entered Kosovo's newest history.
But few know that prior to this decision there have been very important developments preceding this exit. On the 25th, Serbian police faced a resistance from Abedin Rexha Sandocani and his brothers in the village of Vojinika.
The next day, Serbian police headed back to Vojnica to attack Sandokan and his soldiers, but members of the KLA, led by the Legendary Commander, had police at the site called “Klystor”.
The first frontal battle was held there, where Serbs were defeated once again by KLA soldiers. On the way back, Serbian policemen killed at the Lausa village school, teacher Halit Geci. The date of November 27, 1997, was the day the murder teacher's funeral ceremony was being held, while the KLA had decided to go public to this funeral.
So on November 28th while the funeral ceremony was held, three UCK soldiers; Muj Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi, made public progress and indicated that there is an army in Kosovo that will fight for Kosovo's freedom.
All this history left in oblivion for a while is summed up in the documentary “The day before the start”. Magazine. al
