An immigrant from Uzbekistan is the suspected author of the truck attack in New York City, where 8 people died and others were injured.
American media report that the 29-year-old has been identified as Sayfulllo Saipov, a Uzbek immigrant who came to the US in 2010.
Authorities in New York said at least eight people lost their lives, and others were injured when a car was put in a bicycle lane and skiker and pedestrian press not far from the Manhattan World Trade Center memorial centre.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio named the attack a terrorist act. This was a terrorist act, an act of fricaca terror, directed at innocent civilians”.
According to the two officials listed the attack author called “Allahu Akbar” on exit of the vehicle.
The police in New York arrested the owner of the attack after shooting him, wounding him.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo named the attack as the action of a lonely <x0wukuku”, stressing that there is no evidence that it could be part of any broader conspiracy.
