About 4.2 million children and young people are homeless in the U.S., it is noted in a study published today by Chicago University Researchers applied a broad definition of the term homeless, including persons living on the streets or in a shelter, as well as those who temporarily remain in the third in the absence of permanent residence.
“The study is designed to give our nation for the first time, a fuller vision of homeless youth, including young people who have not been counted since”, the researcher Matthew Morton explained.
The study has included at least 7,000 teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 without a fixed settlement and 3.5 million young people aged 18 and 25.
Colored and hepanics are mainly involved, as well as LGBT (lelebic, gay, bisexual and transsexual persons), researchers stressed, praising that the study results can help authorities understand more specifically the problem.
