Since 2002 until 2017 in Kosovo, nearly 30,000 hectares of land have been privatised for the value amounting to only 100m euros. While now, when nearly 20 thousand hectares remain unprivate, the Government of Kosovo has decided to suspend their privatisation for about a year, with the rationalisation of creating the necessary conditions for foreign and local investors.
The Government's decision to suspend the privatisation of social enterprise lands by law and economic affairs experts has been deemed illegal and intervention not only in the competencies of this independent institution, but also in that of the Kosovo Assembly.
