Kosovo citizens have two months left to import old cars and register them. That will not be imported by January 2018, older cars than 10 years, and that they will have to meet the standard known as "euro four" related to gas control.
And this time Kosovars are taking advantage of it, even though these cars affect environmental pollution.
According to Kosovo Customs data by the end of September in Kosovo, 22 thousand and 869 cars worth 127m euros are imported.
As of last year it shows an increase of 19 thousand and 155, worth 108 million last year, about 4,000 thousand cars with many or 20 million worth of value.
“From the number 22869 pieces of cars used are 20919 until the new ones are 1955 pieces of car”, the Kosovo Customs answers are said.
The institution has shown that the amount of money customs collected from car imports is around 55m euros, compared to last year, represents a 9m-euro increase since we had about 46m euros paid last year.
The cars imported to Kosovo, according to customs around 80%, are from Germany.
Official data shows that more than 315 thousand registered cars are in Kosovo, where the average of their age that circulates in Kosovo is 18 years, the Express reported.
In the past year alone, 7 thousand 680 cars were registered, including new records, temporary records, follow-up, re-registering and legalisations.
Automotive import law has been changed several times. Initially, vehicles were allowed to be imported up to eight years old, and then in 2011, up to 13 years were added to be completely removed for years and years.
But with the new law, not everyone can now own a car. This, since the new automotive law that has entered into force on June 27, 2017, has brought changes to several vehicle registration rates.
According to this law, the owner of the vehicle has to obtain a driver's license. “The tool user or tool access owner may only be the person who owns the currency driver's license for the tool category that uses”, the vehicle law says.
Those who have fines paid in communications will have to pay, otherwise they won't be able to register the car. With the introduction of this law in effect, the issue of car registration has changed to the case of changing ownership.
