Time to learn when the Unity Team will be formed and the dialogue resumes

But this proposal by President Thaci was not well received by political connoisseurs as well as by the opposition.

According to the presidency, dialogue with Serbia has been introduced in the final phase and that this is a good and necessary development for Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic perspective.

The “now all parties involved are clear that dialogue for normalising relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia has been introduced in its final phase. This is a good and necessary development for Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic perspective and regional peace and stability”, President Hashim Thaci's chief of staff, Bekim Colak, has told Indexline.

According to him, it was the very importance of this phase that made Kosovo President Hashim Thaci seek the establishment of the Unity Group.

“Precisely bearing in mind the importance of this phase, Republic of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has called for the establishment of the Unity Group, which should be composed of Kosovo political elite and civil society. This implies that the opposition and opposition parties and all those who want to assist Kosovo in this process and final phase should be comprised of”, Colak has said.

And one of the key questions that have been asked about establishing this Unity Team is the time of establishing and starting operations.

According to Colak, the time when this team's establishment will take place is after the local elections end.

The Unity Team will be established immediately after the local elections are completed because the president has not wanted to interfere with a topic so important until the election process is complete. This has been done by taking into account the different positions of political parties for dialogue. But one thing is certain, on national interest topics, everyone has to be involved. And dialogue with Serbia imposes such a thing, also”, has added Colak.

Also, Colak has been asked about the statement by senior EU representative Federica Moghrini, which the day before emphasised that the time when Kosovo- Serbia is exactly the end of this year or month of December.

“EU High Representative for Foreign Political and Security Frederica Moghrini, who is also a mediator in this process, has rightly stated that this process is expected to intensify in the coming months. This is expected to happen precisely because this is the dynamic for which we agreed at preliminary meetings held at the level of presidents of both states. In the meantime, we're working and building our platform which will then be supported by the UN Unity Group”, Colak said.

Meanwhile Colak has stressed that the outcome of local elections in Kosovo will open a much more dynamic phase for the final phase of dialogue, for normalising relations between the two states, Kosovo and Serbia.
