A total of two weeks later, only 9 percent of residents have electricity, according to Puerto Rican government figures.
SpaceX and Tesla's founder announced that he would be able to help restore electricity to the country through solar power and electrical batteries.
Tesla's <x0);Ekip has built solar nets for many small islands around the world, but there are no scaling limits, so it can be done for Puerto Rico”, writes Musk on his Twitter Thursday. “Such a decision would be in the hands of Puerto Rico's government and any other trade party, and most importantly to the people of Puerto Rico”.
Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosello expressed interest in the answer, saying: “Let's talk. Do you want to show the world the power and scaling of your Tesla technologies? Puerto Rico may be this side project”.
The technology Titanic said that he hoped Tesla, which has already completed projects similar to the energy of battery and solar energy to Hawai's co-operative islands and the American island of Samoa, would be useful to the people of Puerto Rico.
Despite the fact that both previous projects covered populations much smaller than Puerto Rico, the billionaire entrepreneur said he was convinced his existing operations could be expanded to meet the greatest requirement.
Extraction into a Tesla-potred system would signal an overall return for Puerto Rico's current power grid. The island uses an outdated system of importing and burning oil to generate electricity, which means Puerto Ricans have been hit with costly bills for years.
Hurricane Maria killed 34 people in Puerto Rico and did damages that cost up to $85 billion since last month's hit. Most of the population were left without access to clean water, medical supplies, and electricity.
Tensions between Puerto Rico's capital mayor, San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz and Donald Trumpão have been constantly raised. Cruz has argued that the Trump administration “is killing us with the disability of”, where he was deeply upset in an interview by describing the humanitarian crisis on the island./Periscopi/
