The Turkish Republic Embassy in Washington in all diplomatic missions in the US has suspended all procedures related to visa issuing for US citizens, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).

The latest “prompted Turkey's Government to re-examine the US government's commitment to the safety of objects and staff of Turkish diplomatic missions. During the evaluation process, the procedures for visa issuing for US citizens in all our US missions have been interrupted, in order to reduce the number of visitors to our embassy and general consulates in the US”, said the statement issued by the Turkish Embassy in Washington.

The statement stresses that visa is also covered with this decision at border and e-Viza crossings. Earlier, the US Embassy announced it had suspended issuing non-migration visas on all US diplomatic missions in Turkey in order to reduce the number of visitors to diplomatic missions.

With the investigation into the plot, which took place on December 17th-25th in Turkey by the armed terrorist organisation FETO, it was found that a US Consul General's official in Istanbul, Metin Topuz, was in contact with the accused, former police chiefs and a former prosecutor, who is still on the run, Zekiriya ♫.

By order of the Prosecutor in Istanbul, Topuz was arrested for efforts to overturn constitutional order, spying and for efforts to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey. Following Topuz' arrest, the US reaction followed.

In response to that response, Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that on 25 September 2017, deprived of freedom is not on the official list of US consulate staff, as well as that there is no diplomatic or consular immunity or comfort.
