Kurdish commanders have said they had given up the deadline they had Iraqi fighters Pesmerga to give up their positions during the fight of terrorist groups, Islamic State.
Both sides are US allies, and Washington has military advisers in both groups of tension, US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis has said.
Mattis has told reporters that “we are trying to move forward without losing our enemy”.
We all need to focus on defeating the Islamic State. We must not fight each other now”, Mattis added.
Iraqi and Kurdish parties have been tense since Kurds voted for the referendum, which Baghdad consistently opposes.
