Tensions in Ferizaj murder trial

Charged for the murder of Samir Raja in August 2016, Meriton Aliu has given his defense at the Ferizaj Court.

He said that on the critical day, while sitting with a friend of his, Valdrin Rexhepi and a friend of his last one, has already come from behind the late Samir Rexha with his uncle's son.

According to the defendants, Samir had taken hold of her arm and told her she had something to talk about, and together they were headed toward the nearby ambulance.

Did you see the day coming? The defendant said, stressing that they were later returned and stopped at the entrance of a collective residence.

Meriton Aliu said the late Samir Rex had pushed him in. According to his confession, the deceased had already threatened him with guns, pointing them at his feet and then even toward his head.

He showed that Samir had seen him tighten his jaws and too nervous and that he had begged him several times to pull off the gun and not shoot and that at one point he had put the gun in his belt, “but pulled it out again, threatening to shoot me”.

The accused said that there was a confrontation, and even this one had pulled out the gun and that he had shot it in the direction of the victim twice and in the nose. He said he had no choice.

At this point, family members of the deceased have intervened, accusing the defendant of not speaking the truth.

“You've kneed 3-4 times towards Samir, don't lie!”, addressed defendant Driton Momqilla, who was immediately expelled from the hall.

This act of the judge prompted the response of the late brother, Shqirim Raja.

Despite the tension, Meriton Aliu continued the statement, showing that Samir Raja had been recognized by elementary school and cited a problem he had had had with the deceased a week before the event at the door of primary school “John Serreqi“in Ferizaj.

Meriton Aliu eventually apologized to the family of the deceased in his name and his family, adding that he did not want that to happen.

However, the apology was rejected by the late sister Samire Rexha.

The next session will be held on October 25th, when the final word will be given before the plea is declared.

In June of this year, after reading the indictment, Meriton Aliu was declared innocent.
