The Pristina municipality on Friday has launched an app for urban traffic, which citizens today can download to their phones to report to the time of bus arrival at urban traffic stations.
Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti has praised this app as urban traffic skeleton, while saying that in 2018, the Pristina municipality will also have cards for urban traffic, while parking parking lot will be paid with SMS, eliminating RECA payments to be eliminated.
He said only new buses are involved in the app, while working on new long-term contracts with private operators, in order to get them into the GPS system.
We're working closely to make new contracts even with private operators. This is part of the contract we have with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The contract where they currently have six months to one year, which is why they have old buses. Soon we'll be on contracts for 7-10 years, with private operators, on lines that we can't cover with our new buses that we bought, and they'll have to invest in the newest buses and we have to get them into the GPS system. So this is a base of an urban traffic app, which currently has new buses, 30-29s that are out of order, but it tracks all those buses real time”, he said.
Asked about the criticisms of Blerim Rexaj towards him, Ahmeti has said they occurred in the quality of a PDK member and in time of campaigning.
Pristina Deputy Mayor Muhedin Niushi has clarified that this app can be downloaded into the Android and IOS version, while consisting of three phases, with whatras today only the first phase was introduced.
He has said this project has all cost the municipality was the purchase of some technical parts, which have cost 900 euros.
This is the first phase, the second phase included reporting citizens to urban traffic bus stations. Reports of which bus is in line to come and at the same time how many minutes that bus will be at the station where the citizen is waiting, which will be the form, we'll decide later. As is the final stage of this highly complex project that pays off. The payments will be digital, no longer going between tickets”, he explained.
