Poisoning milk, the newly married bride kills husband and 12 family members

A newly married girl in Pakistan has been arrested under suspicion that she killed her husband and at least 12 relatives with poisoned milk.

Police say Asija Bibi had dropped the deadly substance into milk for her husband last week, but he didn't drink it.

Then she caught yogurt, and had given it to all his family to eat.

Police said the young woman was forced to marry him because of the family.
Such weddings are not rare in the poorest and rural areas of Pakistan, and are often driven by older brothers and parents.

Local media said the bride had tried to leave her husband's house and to return to her parents, but they had not.
