Major efforts are under way to govern the Pristina municipality after 22 October.
Vetevendosje with its candidate, the current president of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, has conducted dynamic campaigns so far, with the intention of on October 22nd Ahmeti winning without a runoff.
On the other hand, it is the Democratic League of Kosovo with its candidate, Arban Abrashi, and the Democratic Party of Kosovo with Lirak Celi, who are making sure Shpend Ahmeti lead him to the runoff.
And after taking Ahmeti to the runoff, the two parties have another plan to win Ahmeti.
Periscope, through its sources within the LDK by senior party officials, has learned that the PDK's LDK has already reached agreement to merge their forces against Shpend Ahmeti if it goes to the runoff with Arban Abrasin.
It's of great importance, even for LDK and for The PDK, to stop Shpend Ahmeti and thus stop the VV. It is simply political strategy and it is not contrary to any law that two parties join to support a certain candidate, whoever he is”, says this source for Periscope.
What Periscop learned, The PDK and LDK are already aware that if the runoff occurs in Pristina, the real prospects for this are that of LDK candidate Arba Abashi.
All potentials will focus on Arba Abshin together with PDK. Support we can get from other parties”, the LDK official said in the conditions of privacy.
To talk about this, Periscopi has developed telephone communication with LDK deputy chairman Haki Rugova, who has initially denied reaching such an agreement, but has not ruled out the possibility of a similar agreement, saying it depends on the PDK.
I know there's no deal on this, but look after the first round. I have no information on this. I don't know, it's up to PDK”, he added.
The race to govern with the Pristina municipality has great significance for each party, since the capital's electorate is large and has an impact on the general vote, with over 180 thousand registered voters.
The June 11th elections showed that Vetevendosje has dramatically increased the vote in Pristina. Out of 16 thousand votes in the 2013 local elections, in 2017 in the general elections, the VV ended the election race by over 35 thousand votes, coming out the first party. /Periscopi/
