The number of people affected by the measles epidemic in Kosovo is marking growth. There are no fewer than 36 cases of this infectious disease being addressed at the Infectious Clinic within the Kosovo Clinical and University Centre (QKUK), the Zeri newspaper writes today.
The most frequent cases being reported at this clinic are the children of Roma communities, krave, and Egyptian, as well as the Albanian majority reported to be affected by this epidemic.
Although the first cases are officially taught that they were submitted in June, the intervention of institutions especially to equip the Infectious Clinic medication occurred on Thursday. The Infectious Clinic is supplied only this day with medicines from the Health Ministry.
Hamdi Ramadani, director of this clinic, has indicated that currently in this clinic 36 cases of measles are being handled.
Of them, he has said four cases are more complicated. Since other cases, he says, have received medical help after treatment, they have been released home. Ramadani has said that patients are of different ages, ranging from babies to age 40, Zeri writes.
Kosovo Hospital and University Clinic Director-General Basri Sejdiu has indicated that high commitment to providing health assistance to the cases presented at the Infectious Clinic is being shown.
He has promised that he will engage together with the Steering Board and the Ministry of Health to improve the situation, whether in the supply of drugs or on saving materials, but also with the necessary infrastructure and equipment. Meanwhile during the day, the office of the general director of USKKU has announced that the Infectious Clinic is supplied with drugs from the Health Ministry.
