After reading the indictment by case prosecutor Zejrie Kela, 20 Northern Mitrovica Traffic Unit police officials accused of taking bribes were acquitted. These members are part of the group of 59 police officials who were arrested in December last year by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate under suspicion of acts of abuse of official duty or official authority, taking bribes and helping perpetrators of criminal acts.
These police officers have also lost their work relationship.
Even for these police officers, as well as for their 15 South Mitrovica colleagues, the initial review hearing for which was held yesterday has become the isolation of the procedure, which the parties announced since the beginning of this initial review by the judge of the Avni Mehmeti case.
All officers charged were present at the session: Vojkan Stupic, Vasko Radulovic, Shefzat Maxhuni, Srdjan Zivovic, Sinisa Milutinovic, Milan Jovanovic, Slavisa Filipovovic, Nedzad Islamovic, Zeljko Milenkoviq, Srdjan Djorovijq, Branko Radosavlevljevic, Milan Vitkovovic, Stvica Igjatovicq, Zlatomir Simovovic, Milijan Jovanovovic, Vesko Kostojac, Srdjan Miloveq, Manjo Vlasokov, Mitrovic Mitrovici Mitrovic and Milici, along with their defences, Kejlja and the prosecutor.
Each of the officers and accusers was declared alone, except that they do not feel guilty about charges brought upon them.
After that, Judge Avni Mehmeti announced to the parties that the second review would not be held, but the parties would be given the possibility of rejecting the indictment and testing in the 30-day term, as well as the decision concerning the opposition if it would take it out of the court hearing.
Even after informing the judge that the procedure for the accused officers of northern and southern Mitrovica has been made, attorney Faruk Korenica at the initial review hearing requested by the court to isolate criminal procedures for the defendants, according to provisions of the indictment, because according to him from the indictment it appears that each point is separate from the other and that the stance of the accused has been abused and wasted time.
As Judge Avni Mehmeti related to this, he declared that the Court has made a ruling in 03.08.2017 for the exception of the procedure, and that ruling will remain in force for the time being and will not issue any other separate decisions.
Among those accused of criminal work “bribery” were two citizens, Slavoub Dim enemies and Goran Djuric, who have even pleaded guilty.
While under the prosecution's proposal, the Constitutional Court of Mitrovica had been imposed on the penal order in June 2016, and it has fined 500 euros each.
The indictment includes 20 members of the Highway Control Unit, 15 from the South Mitrovica Traffic Unit and 4 others from the Prizren Traffic Unit.
According to a KALLXO.com research, police officials are accused of taking bribes from various drivers in the euro and Serb dinars.
