Chairman of the Association of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army, O VL- The KLA, Hysni Gucati, has made known to “Gazeta Blic” that the Kosovo government has found solutions to the problem with veterans' salaries, sharing 26m euros for the category.
Money allocated to KLA veterans is sufficient only until January next year.
“We have in progress had meetings with Prime Minister Haradinaj's advisers and given the information we have until next week's Friday pay will come up. 26m euros have been allocated for this category, which is enough until January”, Gucati said.
He further stated that at the beginning of next week, he is expected to be sent for revision to the Kosovo Parliament's budget this year, which later allows the distribution of wages for KLA veterans.
The budget review is expected to come to parliament on Monday or Tuesday of next week”, he said.
“Gazeta Blic” has made an effort to speak to the Minister of Labour and Social Management, Skender Recica on this issue, but the contact with him has been almost impossible, since he has not responded to calls and SMS editorials.
Otherwise, representatives of war organisations' allegations of blowing up KLA veterans' lists have been the launch of investigations by the State Prosecutor last year.
The large number of veterans has jeopardised Kosovo's budget over the past year, where this category for several months has received its pension late.
On Monday, a group of KLA veterans staged protests before the government's facility in recognition of the lack of wages for September. The veterans have not even received a full month's pay in August, since only 1.7m euros were left in the state budget, which was insufficient for the full payment of over 400,000 veterans. In that world, former Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa had decided to proportionally share the remaining money for all veterans.
