In the region, the most drastic decline in life expectancy is Kosovo, from 71.35-70.91, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, out of 76.59-75.59, which is partly attributed to the war these states have faced.
The map compiled by Reddit, part of British prestigious Independent, shows that countries with the highest life expectancy are Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Great Britain, the reason is partly attributed to the quality health system.
Another previous study, by the World Bank, has found that in 2015 life expectancy is seen to be 78 years old. A report by the Institute of Public Health says life expectancy in Albania for 2012 was the lowest in the region for women (75 over 83 years of age in Greece, which had the highest life expectancy in the region for women). As for men's life expectancy, in 2012, the lowest figure is encountered in Serbia (72) followed by Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro (73 years old).
According to the Statistics Institute (INSTAT, 2014), life expectancy at birth in Albania in 2013 was 76.0 years old for males and 80.3 for females. In the past decade, a steady rise for both genders is seen. During the past ten years, however, life expectancy increased by 4.4 years in men, but only 3.1 years in women.
