Germany today marks the 27th anniversary of the destruction of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of German territory.
Germany was divided into two parts since 1945, which was controlled by the US and its allies and in East Germany, controlled by the Soviet Union.
As Western Germany had known a rapid development of the economy, that eastern one was left behind under the dictatorship of the Soviet occupation.
But after dozens of years of division, on October 3, 1990, German citizens broke the Berlin Wall, which was built to stop the East Germans from crossing west.
Today Germany is one of the greatest powers in Europe and the world. / KP/
