The EU's clear message to Kosovo: Without fighting corruption there is no visa liberalisation

The doors of the European Union are open to Kosovo, as well as to other countries in the region, but need to be completed as soon as the reforms, which are ahead for the process. So said European Ministry for Foreign Action Secretary-General Helga Schmidt at a news conference with Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Periscopi broadcast.

I am happy to be in Kosovo today. My message is very clear, Kosovo is Europe and Kosovo's future is in Europe. I recommend that all necessary steps be taken on this road. The European agenda is filled with a series of reforms that must be met. Law enforcement, fighting crime and corruption are some of these reforms that must be carried out as soon as”, Schmidt said, writes Periscopi.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Haradinaj has said the message he delivered to the EU senior official is that Kosovo is committed to meeting the criteria for the road to the EU, with which there are fighting corruption and organised crime.

Kosovo's “Dinamica with the EU is intensifying. Even today's meeting confirms the importance of this dynamic, but it is a postponement for more intensive jobs, implementation of the European agenda for Kosovo, which focuses on overall reforms, strengthening order and law, fighting corruption, economic reform we have as mutually agreed duty. The EU's interest is more than regional even for Kosovo”, Haradinaj has said.

Later, Schmidt, also talked about demarcation with Montenegro.

We know how important visa liberalisation is for Kosovo and meeting the criteria for this process. One of the key issues in this process is also resolving the issue of border demarcation with Montenegro, but of course a very important criterion is fighting corruption”, Schmidt has said. /Periscopi/
