“Barsa Oil Company (BOC) began today pumping 2,000 barrels per day from fields to south and centre, reaching a total of 2.2 million barrels exported every day”, the Minister of Oil, Jabbar al Louibi, stressed in a communiquette.
“It is meant to compensate for the amount lost from Iraq after the suspension of exports from the Turkish Ceyhan terminal due to operations under way”, he explained.
This oil surlus will be exported from terminals to south”, the Minister of Oil continued.
Baghdad launched an operation this week to restore central power authority to areas controlled by Kurdish fighters.
Although it has managed to recover Kirkuk's field, Iraqi federal authorities cannot export oil from this area because the oil pipeline built in 2013 in this area has been damaged and controlled in the rest by Kurds.
