Apostolova satisfied with positive developments achieved in the financial sector

“We are aware that development of the financial sector remains one of the main preconditions for the country's sustainable economic development”, Mehmeti stressed.
The role of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo is very important, taking into account the constitutional mandate for regulation, supervision, but also the development of a stable and stable financial market.
“The CEC has consistently taken measures towards overhauling and empowering the financial sector, with the aim of promoting the country's economic development”, Governor Mehmeti's U.D. said among other things.
Mehmeti also stressed that BEC, in addition to maintaining macro-fiscal stability and financial sector adjustment, will consistently be committed to making progress in terms of meeting the criteria for European integration, with particular focus on obligations emerging under the Association Stabilisation Agreement. In this direction, we are grateful to you and the European Union's taxpayers for the assistance and support you have provided through the financing of different projects and expert delivery, with the aim of establishing local capacities with a focus on improving rule of law and developing democracy.
The meeting also discussed the Euro-intensive processes of the CEC and the financial sector in general, where significant role in this direction was assumed to have the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the European Bank Authority (EBA), whose goal is to create a framework for co-operation and information exchange between the EBA and the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo.
Improving legal infrastructure and empowering the rule of law in the country was also one of the points of discussion of this meeting, being named as one of the basic preconditions for developing and integrating a sound financial market based on a free market economy and lyrical competition, where the European Union has been very contributing in this direction.
Special emphasis was given to assistance and support the adoption of important laws such as the law on insurance, the law against money laundering and financing terrorism, etc. The role of the CEC in the rule of law and combating informal economy was also praised. Finally Mrs. Apostolova expressed satisfaction about the positive developments achieved in the financial sector, especially in recent years in Kosovo.
It has also underlined that the European Union Office in Kosovo will continue co-operation and support the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, through financial mechanisms in various areas which help advance its functions.
