Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said that today is the best moment for clear orders that the Government understands seriously the importance of this subject, such as trafficking with human beings.
The prevention of this kind of specific crime must occur with all the legal means that the legislation envisions most powerful. We identify and punish the perpetrators. Our operational capacity and our expertise must be advanced. Also important is regional co-operation and the EU in it. One element that we need to know, every type of crime breeds another type of crime. Trafficking in human beings could be the basis of other types of crime”, Haradinaj said at the conference, which is being held on EU Day against human trafficking.
Haradinaj said Kosovo and the EU together have shown commitment against this kind of crime.
While EU chief Natalia Apostolova said it is unacceptable that they still face such a phenomenon.
The prevention and combating human trafficking is one of the top priorities of the EU. The European Union wants to help Kosovo combat trafficking by sharing experiences and expertise, while rooting out people and trafficking is a complex process. The EU is side by side with Kosovo in fighting this” phenomenon, Apostolova has said.
