A total of 1,343 newborn babies have lost their lives in Macedonia in the past six years, probably from 2011 to 2016. State Institute for Statistics records show that on average a year over 200 babies die.

According to statistics, this data shows that years of infant mortality was 11.9 in 1,000 children.
Four newborn babies have lost their lives in Macedonia only last week. The commission formed to investigate the death of these babies has said medical personnel have no responsibility for infant deaths and that they have provided needed medical assistance.
