The attack was from South Sudan, one of thousands of refugee children living in Kenya and going there because civil war broke out in their country in 2013. He was arrested in possession of an AK-47, the base rifle of the attack selected in conflicts in Africa and the Middle East.
“The school was not attacked by bandits, but a student expelled because of disciplinary cases”, Regional Government official ENyama Musyambohe told reporters, writes Reuters, escorts Indexline.
Security officials said the assailant, whose name had not been revealed, had been arrested, but was then killed by a mob while in custody.
The attack ... is a painful reminder of the state of uncertainty along the” border, said district governor Turkana Josphat Nanok.
Close to 2 million people have fled South Sudan since the outbreak of fighting in December 2013, causing what has become Africa's largest cross-border escort since the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
