A man was charged after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed outside a Shia mosque in the central town of Birmingham, Alzeera” reported on Periscope.
Dominic Palmer, who is 29 years old, is expected to appear before magistrates Monday, charging with the attempted murder of Syed Hasani on Friday at the Idaara Maarif-e-Islam Hussainia in the small area of the town of Heath.
The young man, who had celebrated his birthday two days before the incident, is in critical condition with wounds around his neck.
It is believed that the suspected attacker has lived on the same street where the mosque is located.
This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with our family at this difficult time”, said Detective Inspector Jim Colclough.
Our <x0 plan is continuing as we work to determine the circumstances of what happened, so we can provide his family with the answers they need”, he added.
Previously, Colclough said investigators were wearing an open <x0 mind> about whether the incident might be motivated based on race or religion.
The alleged attack took place after worshipers were gathering at the mosque to mark the Islamic month of Muharrem, one of the most sacred cases for Shiite Muslims.
“should be careful about those who may have bad intentions”, the mosque statement said.
Aaron Khan, secretary general of Britain's Muslim Council, said he was “ungrateful to God that the young man did not lose his life”. /Periscopi/
