IHMK issues orange alarm: Storms, hail and strong winds are expected tomorrow in all of Kosovo

Kosovo's Hydromeorological Institute has issued an orange-level meteorological warning for July 22nd, announcing that all of the country's territory may be involved in local thunder storm.
According to the IHMK, intense rainfall, hail and strong storm-like winds are expected in some regions.
The institute has warned of danger from lightning strikes, rapid local floods, damage to power grids, telecommunications, vehicles, objects and agricultural culture.
Citizens are invited to avoid being in open environments during storms, to take care of communication, and to follow the announcements of competent institutions.

What is expected?
During July 22nd, 2026 powerful conflict developments are expected, which will bring local thunder storms, accompanied by several regions with:
Heavy rainfall;
hail;
Strong winds of storm character.
Possible effects:
• High risk of lightning strikes, with potential consequences for humans and animals.
• Electricity damage and power supply cuts.
• The barrier to telecommunications systems.
• Quick local floods in intense rainfall areas.
• Injury on objects, vehicles, infrastructure and agricultural cultures, especially from hail and strong winds.
• Increasing the risk of lighting fires as a result of atmospheric discharges.
Participants for citizens:
Avoid being in open environments during storms.
Do not take refuge under lonely trees, by electrical poles, or by metal objects.
Protect vehicles and property from hail and strong winds.
Show increased attention in communication because of reduced visibility and slippery roads.
Follow the announcements and instructions of competent institutions until the end of the warning period.
