Zelensky dismisses top army commander, that's why

His dismissal comes just days after Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov left office, a decision that triggered protests in several cities in Ukraine.

According to reports, speculations initially circulated that Fedov's departure was the result of a clash with Syrsky. These voices were then confirmed, prompting new discussions on changes in the direction of the Ukrainian Army. Fedov, 35, has been widely praised for reforming the Ministry of Defence, modernising the armed forces and directing anti-corruption initiatives.

On the other hand, Styrsky, 60, is considered by many Ukrainians as a commander formed in Soviet military school, who has shown reluctance in implementing deep reforms in the military.

So far, the Ukrainian presidency has not provided further details on the reasons for Syrsky's dismissal or the name of his successor. /Periscope/
