Vote Counting Begins by Diplomatic Representatives

The Central Election Commission has announced that activities are under way in the Municipal Counting Centre (QKN) and the Counting and Results Centre (QNR), in the framework of the vote counting process for early elections for the Kosovo Assembly, held on 7 June 2026.
At the media conference, CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi announced that the count of votes cast in Kosovo's diplomatic representatives has started at the QNR.
“At the Counting and Results Centre has begun counting ballots belonging to the vote outside Kosovo, respectively. On June 6th 2026, on 30 diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Kosovo, located in 18 different states of the world, voting has been held for citizens registered in advance to vote physically on either of these diplomatic missions. Out of 27,724 registered citizens have voted 22,860 of them, or 82.46%, and these ballots will be included in the account”, Elesi said.
He announced that the WNR is continuing the assessment of the supposed package by balloting through mail.
“At the Counting and Results Centre is continuing the process of weighing the supposed package with ballots from voting outside Kosovo, respectively, from voting through mail that have so far been brought to Kosovo. The goal is to prove whether these packages were sent by registered voters through post-mail”, he said.
Elez presented the data so far.
By the end of Wednesday (June 10th, 2026) in the evaluation process, more than 23 thousand and 300 packages have been approved, 22,601, have already been rejected. The most obvious reason why these packages have been rejected is because in 699 cases there is a lack of registration, a document with unique data, which the registered voter accepts by the CEC”, he said.
Furthermore, it clarified the purpose of the verification process.
This process began on June 9, 2026, at 4: 00 p.m. and aims to verify whether these packages were sent by registered voters. At the end of this evaluation process, the CEC will publish the data for the number of packages with supposed ballotings, which will be counted at the Counting Centre and Results”, he said.
Elez also spoke of the process of pulling the package with ballots through the mail.
On Monday, June 8th, the package withdrawal process belonging to voting outside Kosovo has been completed, respectively. The withdrawal of the ballot package is made from CEC mailboxes in 22 different states, as well as from the CEC mailbox in Kosovo. Out of 23 mailboxes, more than 85700 alleged ballot packages, a piece of which were brought to Kosovo”, he said.
According to the CEC, the number of registered voters for voting by mail has been over 104 thousand. “During the census period (6 May 17th May 2026) the number of citizens registered to vote via mail in early elections for the Kosovo Assembly is 104,480 voters”, Elesi said.
As for the counting and verification process of votes at the Municipal Counting Centre, he indicated that most municipalities have already completed this phase.

Wednesday, June 10, until 4: 00 p.m.: Decan, Dragash, Kamenica, Gracanica, Kline, Year, Kacanik, Rahovec and Leposaviq. Wednesday, June 10th, until 24:00: Istog, Skenderaj, Malisheva, Drenas, Lipjan, Peja and Podujevo. Thursday, June 11th until 4: 00 p.m.: Fushe Kosovo, Ferizaj, Suhareka, Vushtrri, South Mitrovica and Gjakova”, he said.
