MPJD comes with clarifications for the NATO Summit: We participate because we are members, in special cases partners are invited

Today, the Ministry of Defence through a response given to the media has made it known that, clearly, Kosovo has not received an invitation for participation in the NATO Summit.
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has also been declared. From the MPJD, they have come up with"clarification", saying that, Kosovo, does not participate in NATO Samity in the quality of the participating state, as it is not a member state of the Alliance and is currently not part of the Partnership for Peace Programme.
The MPJD adds that, at the summit to be held in Ankara, besides member states, the invitation has been accepted by NATO partners in countries like Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, as well as Ukraine.
The Republic of Kosovo has so far not participated in a NATO Sam as a participating state. Kosovo's participation in the past has been within “Wemen, Peace and Security” (Grays, Peace and Security), organised by the United States State Department in NATO Summit margins. The event was a special event, organised in parallel with the summit, and did not represent participation in the NATO Summit itself.

Clarification over NATO Summit reports
June 25, 2026
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diasporas
To clarify the misunderstandings and inaccuracies raised by several portals, we stress that the Republic of Kosovo does not participate in NATO's Samity in the quality of the participating state, as it is not a member of the Alliance and is currently not part of the Partnership for Peace Programme (Partnership for Peace PfP).
NATO tensions are meetings of the heads of state and government of 32 Alliance member states. In particular cases, depending on the summit agenda, the invitation can also receive NATO partners. At the summit to be held in Ankara, besides member states, the invitation has accepted NATO partners under Indo-Picifice Four (IP4) Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand as well as Ukraine, in the quality of NATO partner.
The Republic of Kosovo has so far not participated in a NATO Sam as a participating state. The Republic of Kosovo remains committed to deepening co-operation with NATO and its member states, as well as advancing its strategic aspirations for full membership in the Alliance.
