Israel attacks Lebanon a day after agreeing to withdraw several troops

The Israeli Army carried out a fearful attack on southern Lebanon on Saturday, a day after agreeing to withdraw several troops from the region, stressing the fragility of a ceasefire between the two countries.
An Israeli Protection Forces official (IDF) told CNN the attack aimed at eliminating a threat to their troops.
The attack underlines the challenges that remain in ensuring a lasting peace agreement in Lebanon, where the IDF has waged a continuing fight against Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah, further complicating peace talks between Washington and Tehran, Transcosova.tv broadcasts.
Under a US-brokered agreement, Israel has agreed to withdraw troops from areas north and south of the Litan River, transferring these countries to the Lebanese Army. Both Lebanon and Israel have presented the agreement as a first step, each claiming victory for their respective countries.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah has rejected the deal. In a long statement Saturday, the group's Secretary General, Sheikh Naim Qasssem, said the agreement was “an abuse of the sovereignty of Lebanon”.
