Water, energy, drink with greater price hikes in Kosovo

Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) has published the Production Prices Index (IÇP) for the first quarter of 2026, under which production prices in the country have marked increases on both quarterly and annual bases.
According to the AKS, the overall production price index has increased by 2.3 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the fourth quarter of 2025.
Meanwhile, compared with the same period in the preceding year, production prices have seen an average increase of 7.9 percent.
The largest increases on three - month - old bases are recorded in collection, treatment, and water supply of 34.4 percent, production of alcohol by 15.9 percent, and production of paper and paper products by 9.6 percent.
According to the AKS, the increase was also in metal production, food processing, chemical production, textiles and rubber and plastic products.
On the other hand, price decreases occurred in electricity, gas, and air - conditioning supplies by 2.7 percent, as well as in the production of machinery and equipment.
As for the annual comparison, higher increases were identified to water supply by 32.2 percent, electricity by 18.1 percent, paper production by 15.5 percent, and production of beverages by 15.2 percent.
The AKS reports that price hikes have been eased by lowering in the waste treatment sector, metal production and skin products.
