The Iranian naval forces faced four ships trying to cross the Hormuz Strait and enter the Persian Gulf without co-ordinating with Iranian authorities, reports the Tasnim news agency.
Citing an informed military official, Tasnim said ships received initial warning from Iranian naval forces, but after they ignored the announcement, were shot at with warning shots, forcing them to withdraw.
