Scandal in Germany: Paddy accused of 130 cases of child sexual abuse

A scandal has shocked Germany after the Prosecutor's Office in Potsdam has pressed charges against a 45-year-old pediatricist from Brandenburg for 130 suspected cases of sexual abuse and rape of minors.
According to the prosecution, the doctor allegedly committed most of the crimes during his profession's exercise, over a period of about 12 years, from December 2013 to November 2025, reports Bild.
Authorities suggest the pediatric is in custody since November last year, as a child's mother pressed serious charges against him.
In January of this year it was found that the doctor had sexually abused a minor while working in a hospital in Rathenow, west of Berlin.
After the indictment, police conducted raids and seized numerous electronic equipment to store the data, while the prosecution launched a broad investigation into identifying other potential victims.
According to German authorities, the danger of repeating crimes was one of the main reasons for keeping him in custody.
Meanwhile, Havelland Clinics announced that it has launched an internal investigation and will review security procedures in its institutions.
The hospital group acknowledged that during a medical visit, the principle of “dual acceptance”, which requires the presence of two people during the examination of children.
“Acuses damage the faith of patients and their families”, said medical director Mike Lehsnau.
