How has the religious makeup of Kosovo changed?

From the 2011 census in 2024, the number of Muslim believers in Kosovo has dropped to over 180 thousand. The decline has also taken place in the number of citizens declared Catholic, while other communities' figures have seen growth
It also affects the fact that Kosovo's population has contracted for 8.8 percent during this period. However, change within each community is above this level.
Of all municipalities, the percentage of the Muslim community in population composition has marked the biggest decline in Pristina and Obilic. Serb majority municipalities are not included, as their participation in two censuses was low.

Meanwhile, the biggest change in the Catholic community is observed in Gjakova. There, the percentage remains highest in Kosovo, despite this decline.
Kosovo's Orthodox population remains largely concentrated in majority Serb municipalities in Kosovo. However, low - percentage increases in this community are observed in many municipalities.
The only category that has seen rising percentages in all Kosovo municipalities is that of declared residents without any religious belief. Their largest percentage is in Pristina, reports Radio Free Europe, broadcast Periscope.
