What is the reason for the visit of American congressmen to Kosovo?

The delegation of American congressers is staying in Kosovo, where they will meet with state leaders in Kosovo during the day.
Keith Self of the Republicans and Suhas Subramanyam from the Democrats arrived in Kosovo on May 26th afternoon, as they stayed in the Presevo Valley, where they met with various Albanian officials in southern Serbia.
Self said that after learning about the real problems between Albanians and Serbia, the visit to Kosovo is being held to be “informed of the Serb minority there”.
So, we are visiting both countries to understand how minorities are treated and what their rights are”, Self told reporters in the Presevo Valley.
During the day, congressers will meet with the incumbent leader, Albulen Hadziu, and incumbent Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
A week earlier, Kurt announced that he had held a virtual meeting with a group of conventioners, including Self.
“Bilateral co-operation in defence between Kosovo and the United States is stronger than ever. This, largely, due to the overwhelming two-party support Kosovo enjoys at the US Congress”, Kurti said through an X post after the conversation.
The conventioners' visit comes as in April, Self, along with congressers Ritchie Torres and Mike Lawler, proposed a resolution aimed at pushing Kosovo's road forward towards the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).
In this resolution, which enjoys two-party support in the United States, Kosovo's <x0 democratic governance, civil oversight of security forces and multiethnic co-existence reportedly constitutes a convincing argument for NATO membership”.
Kosovo aims to join the Western military alliance, but has not yet made a formal application for membership, while non-recognition by four NATO states (Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Spain) is estimated an obstacle towards membership in the alliance.
The country is currently in the process of converting the Security Force into the military, the process expected to last until 2028.
A NATO member's admission requires unanimous support, so the resolution presented by congressers urges Washington to encourage these four member states to recognise the state of Kosovo.
