Two people lost their lives after a car crashed a mob in the eastern German town of Leipzig on Monday afternoon, Mayor Burkhard Jung announced.
According to Jung, the suspected author was arrested, while the motive of the event is not clear to authorities.
Police confirmed that the car hit some people in the central area of “Grimmaische Strae worldly” before leaving. Later, the driver was arrested and currently “does not pose further risk”, according to official reports.
At around 17:35, Radio Leipzig reported that police claimed the threat had passed and that the area around the square was blocked for safety. / T CH
