American Economic Oda: Inspection in “Vita” undermines investor confidence

The American Economic Oda in Kosovo expresses its serious concern over the inspection of the unprecedented held yesterday in the milk source facilities “Vita”, one of the biggest production companies in Kosovo, one of the country's biggest taxpayers and a business that has played a defining role in the development of the food processing and local production industry.
The commitment of such a large number of inspectors to a single company constitutes an unprecedented move that raises serious concerns about the proportional, necessity and purpose of this intervention.
Although the American Oda fully supports law enforcement and the responsibility of state institutions for the protection of public health and consumers, these competencies should always be exercised proportionally, professionally, impartially and in accordance with the principles of judicial security.
Actions of this nature create perceptions of a selective and biased approach, undermining confidence in the business community and sending disturbing signals to local and international investors.
The American Economic Oda in Kosovo has repeatedly expressed its concern over worsening the business-making environment as a result of increased judicial uncertainty, institutional unpredictable and non-consistent law enforcement.
Cases like this only reinforce these concerns and further weaken investor confidence in Kosovo. /Periscopi/
