(a month ago)Liberation Iseni, student and one of the organisers of the protest warned of the right to use Albanian in Northern Macedonia has reacted after images showing a parade of special police formation in the urban neighbourhood of Kumanovo, just two days before Monday's planned protest.
In turned viral images, Macedonian special forces are seen carrying out the training on the streets and shouting: “There are only Macedonia here, let all of them learn”.
In a public reaction, Iseni raised doubts about whether this parade of nationalist cheering was a coincidence or a threatening message to students and the organisation of the protest.
Two days before the Albanian Albanian-language student protest, a special RMV police platoon parades through Kumanovo with nationalist cheers. The question that arises is whether it is a coincidence or a warning. Our answer is clear: we will continue every peaceful and democratic form for the realisation of our legitimate right to official Albanian language”, Iseni wrote.
He recalled the history of student movements during the Yugoslav period, stressing that any attempted oppression made the cause stronger, and added that cultural diversity has always been an added value for the country.
Interethnic cohesion has often been endangered by those who should cultivate it. Let us take care of an honest and democratic state for all, maintaining the country's Euro-Atlantic orientation. The Albanian will become, because it does otherwise”, Iseni concluded. /Periscope
