Axios: US and Iran reach agreement, pending Trump approval

Negotiators of the United States and Iran have reached a preliminary agreement on a memorandum of understanding that will last for 60 days, with the aim of continuing the ceasefire and opening a new negotiation process for the Iranian nuclear programme, reports the American medium Axios.
According to the report, the deal has been reached in principle Tuesday and represents an important diplomatic step between the two countries, whose relations have been strained for years due to security issues, sanctions and Iran's nuclear programme.
Axios quotes two American officials and a regional source, who confirm that discussions have advanced more than in previous stages of dialogue, writes Skynews.
American officials disclose that Iran's leaders have already given their approval for this preliminary agreement, signaling readiness to continue the diplomatic process and avoid further escalation of tensions in the region.
On the other hand, American negotiators have informed US President Donald Trump of the contents of the deal and recent developments.
However, he has not immediately given his approval, taking several days to review the document and assess its political and strategic implications. The proposed agreement is seen as an attempt to create a temporary framework of stability, which could serve as the basis for broader and longer-term negotiations on the issue of Iran's nuclear programme -- one of the most sensitive topics in international politics in recent years. /Periscopi
