American congressional: Ohrid Agreement implemented, preserve Albanian rights

American Congresswoman Keith Self held separate meetings in Northern Macedonia today with representatives of the Albanian Student Movement and leaders of the Albanian opposition, where it was discussed political developments in the country, the position of Albanians and the importance of full implementation of the Ohrid Agreement.
At the meeting with representatives of the Albanian Student Movement attended Mevlan Ademi, Besar Sejdiu and Ion Selimi, who presented their concerns about the failure to implement the Law to use languages and trends that, according to them, violate the acquired rights of Albanians.
Student representatives stressed the importance of protecting the Albanian language, respecting constitutional equality and preserving the spirit of coexistence and guaranteed representation with the Ohrid Agreement.
Later, Congresswoman Self held meetings with Albanian opposition leaders in northern Macedonia, attended by Ali Ahmeti and Zijadin Sela.
During discussions, current political developments were addressed, the challenges facing Albanians in northern Macedonia, and the importance of respecting agreements and standards guaranteeing equality, representation and interethnic stability.
US Congresswoman Keith Self reaffirmed the importance of maintaining stability, respecting democratic rights and full implementation of the Ohrid Agreement as guarantee of co-existence and lasting peace in the country and the region.
Conventioner Self's visit to the region comes after staying in the Presevo Valley and meetings with Albanian political and institutional representatives, as well as after meetings with the highest leaders of Kosovo institutions.
