Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced an Orthodox Easter truce with Ukraine, according to a Kremlin statement.
As it became known, the “ruling by the Supreme Commander of the Russian Federation Armed Forces, a ceasefire will enter into force from April 1600th to April 12th 2026”.
The Kremlin noted that it expects the Ukrainian side to follow the same stance, adopting a proper truce for the Easter period.
According to the statement, Russian military forces have been ordered to halt operations on all fronts, remaining ready to respond to possible aggressive actions or provocations.
The Kremlin explained that Defence Minister Andrei Belousov and Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces General Valery Gerasimov have been given instructions to implement the disruption of military operations, while at the same time put troops on alert to prevent possible action by the Ukrainian side.
