I party with message to parties: Need for Political Culture and Compromise Greater Than Ever

EU chief Eva Palatová's duty to the European Union in Kosovo, in an opinion published on developments on the Kosovo political scene, stressed that now is the time to govern.
“Today, the need for this political culture and for the ability to compromise is greater than ever, because Kosovo has a window of possibilities that must not be lost”.
Bringing back to the attention of the EU leaders' calls for Kosovo to build its institutions and benefit from the moment created in the EU for enlargement, Palatova also recalled the responsibility political parties have, especially the first party.
“After the certificate of election results, the priorities are clear: the winning party bears a special responsibility to engage with political forces across the political spectrum, in order to build the necessary compromises, which will not only enable the constitution and the formation of the Government, but also the election of the president, by fully respecting the constitutional requirements and the necessary majority.
At the same time, all elected parties have the responsibility to engage in these confidential negotiations to achieve that goal. Together, they must continue with reforms that will put Kosovo's European integration at the centre of their decision making and prove that compromise in the function of Kosovo's European future is possible”, Palatova wrote.
She warned that the consequences of lack of political stability are becoming evident, while she said the following weeks concern more than forming the government.
“They have to do with restoring political functionality, rebuilding public confidence and ensuring that Kosovo will fully benefit from the favourable moment in the European Union enlargement process”, Palatova wrote.
