US at UN: Trump expects clear pledges from Kosovo, Serbia to work together

As in the past, Kosovo and Serbia have led charges against each other in the UN Security Council's upcoming meeting (OKB) on Kosovo, held Thursday in New York, while the United States has been clear in their stance that normalisation of relations is the only way [...]
[American President Donald] Trump and the Americans are listening very carefully to you to pledge clearly to work and project together. We hope that both sides will reduce tensions and sit at the table. We will work closely with future-looking leaders, not the past. With real dialogue and no theatre”, the United States' deputy representative to the UN, Tammy Bruce, has said, repeating that the US remains committed to supporting stability in Kosovo and Serbia in order to preserve stability in the Balkan region.
The people of Kosovo and the people of Serbia are our friends. They deserve futures defined by security, economic opportunities and neighbourly relations, not with political or recyclatory tensions”, it has said, among other things.
The Kosovo team has said it does not expect normalisation of relations with Serbia without clear accountability for the attacks on Banjska and Iber-Lepenc and guarantees of halting aggression, while Serbia's team has accused Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's Government of pressing the voice of local Serbs.
Kosovo accuses Serbia of carrying out both attacks, but Belgrade denies everything. A Kosovo Police official was killed in the attack in Banjska, while in Iber-Lepenc there were explosions that resulted in damage to critical water supply and electricity infrastructure”. / REL
