For Euronews Albania, the Embassy stresses that American citizens' safety and protection remain a top priority.
The Trump administration has no higher priority than American citizens' safety and protection. We are working closely with Albanian authorities to assess the situation and ease security risks. The US Embassy praises its close co-operation on security issues with Albania's Government, which has shown a continued commitment to ensure the safety of American and Albanian citizens. We'll provide more information as soon as he becomes available,” says in response.
The US Embassy Public Relations Section in Tirana stresses that co-operation with Albanian authorities is key to managing any danger and ensuring citizens' protection.
Albania's Defence Minister Ermal Nufi, concerning the warning the US Embassy had sent several days earlier to inform citizens of security measures and possible dangers from Iran.
In his full statement, Minister Nufi points out:
The US Embassy's <x0.0/notation is a statement under standard practices distributed not only to Albania, but also to other countries, and should not be interpreted as cause for panic. This, of course, does not mean that we are not dealing with maximum seriousness”.
Our <x0) security institutions are in constant pursuit of any information, while operational and intelligent services co-operate daily to identify and neutralise any potential risks, in close co-ordination with our allies and partners. Albania remains in permanent communication with the US government and with partner structures for any development related to security”.
I want to stress that there is no room for alarm, but there is room for vigilance, professionalism and institutional co-ordination. Our security system is fully committed to guaranteeing order and protecting citizens in every public space. Albania is safe, even thanks to the fact that it is part of the world's largest security Alliance, NATO, and we will continue to do everything necessary to ensure the peace and security of our citizens”, Nufi has declared. /Periscopi
