Italy with new law, citizenship is easier off

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Melon's right-wing party submitted a bill Wednesday to promote the repatriation of convicted foreigners and make it easier to lift Italian citizenship for them.
Under the proposal, all citizens from outside the EU, sentenced to more than a year in prison, will be deported to their countries of origin, regardless of whether they consent.
During a press conference, members of Melon's Fratelli d'Italia party said the deportations would be conducted under bilateral agreements that would be negotiated with the respective countries.
