Denmark Agreement on Transfer of Prisoners Begins Jailing in Gjilan

The Kosovo Lawyers' Oda has started about the start of the process of closing the Gjilan Centre for Pre-prisonment, which is under the implementation of the agreement between Kosovo and Denmark, to exploit this facility for executing sentences pronounced by Danish authorities.
According to the official announcement, the gradual transfer of persons deprived of freedom from the Gjilan Centre to other corrective institutions, which will be conducted in phases, in line with security assessments, accommodation capacities and operational needs of the Kosovo Correcting Service, it is said, among other things.
OAK, has announced to all lawyers representing persons deprived of freedom that have so far been located at the Gjilan detention centre, to verify in advance the correct institution in which their clients are located, ahead of the visiting company or procedure actions.

The Kosovo Lawyers' Oda has been officially announced by the Kosovo Correcting Service that the process of closing the detention centre in Gjilan has begun, under the implementation of the Treaty between the Republic of Kosovo and Denmark's Kingdom for exploiting this facility for executing sentences pronounced by Danish authorities.
According to the official report, the gradual transfer of persons deprived of freedom from the Gjilan Centre to other corrective institutions, which will be conducted in phases, in line with security assessments, accommodation capacities and the operational needs of the Kosovo Correcting Service.
In order to avoid procedural delays and ensure effective defence exercise, the Oda of Kosovo Lawyers announces to all lawyers representing persons deprived of freedom that have so far been located at the detention centre in Gjilan, to verify in advance the correctional institution in which their clients are located, ahead of the visiting or procedure company.
This announcement is made with the aim of timely informing the community of lawyers and facilitating communication with clients during this transitional period.
